Membership and Application Information

Application Deadline: December 15, 2009

Internship Eligibility: High school students in the greater Dayton area are eligible to be interns for periods of one year. Duties include attending and participating in meetings, activities and trainings. Meeting times are usually late Sunday afternoons and average two meetings per month depending on pending events.

General Members (Application Form)

  • Any high school age student who would like to participate in  AAYCD activities may participate as a General Member.

  • There is no 'window' in which a student must apply; this category is open to all throughout the year.

  • A Parent Permission form is required to participate.

Internships (Application Form)

  • Volunteer Intern compensation—all volunteer interns receive letters of reference and volunteer hours for the successful completion of service.

  • An application must be received within a six week period which will be stated both online, through emails and at meetings.

  • An intern may be expected to undertake leadership roles, give presentations and participate regularly.

Mentor in Training (MIT) Eligibility (Application Form)

  • Members who have had at least one full  year of membership are eligible. Duties include assistance with running meetings and groups, planning activities, recruiting new members and attending and assisting in all activities and trainings.  An MIT who is over 18 may stand in for the Director if needed.

  • Compensation—all volunteer MIT’s receive a letter of reference and volunteer hours upon the successful completion of service.

 

Mentor (Application Form)

A mentor must be a college-age individual or older who will assist and chaperone all ‘off site’ activities. A mentor may plan and run any agreed upon activity(s). This individual may also stand in for the chapter coordinator in the case of absence. The mentor will receive a stipend if funding is in place.

NOTE: Reference Letters: New interns need a letter of reference from a non related adult in addition to a completed application. A letter of reference is not required for re-applying interns.
